Sukkur dry Dates are completely dehydrated and sun-dried. These  are hard in texture and  have lesser moisture content and stay fresher for longer period.Their shelf life can last up to two years.Local name  is Chouhara/ Chohara/shohara.

Asia Foods International is one of the largest dry Dates producer in Sukkur and Dry Dates producer in Khairpur.

Major Types areas producing these Dates:

Pakistan is the only country producing these  Dates on large scale. Almost 70% of all Dates produced in Sukkur and Khairpur are dry Dates.  These Dates are further produced in two forms, brown and yellow. Brown are completely natural whereas yellow are produced through a process .

Major Markets

Major market for these Dates is India, Nepal ,Srilanka and Bangladesh. Out of these countries India is the biggest buyer of dry Dates since many decades. Local consumption of these Dates is quite low and are used either during special events,weddings, or special festivities.

Uses of the Dates

The Dates are beneficial to prepare various recipes because these Dates are much less sweet than any of the other Dates. Can be either directly consumed, crushed to make powder or soaked in milk overnight and taken with morning breakfast.

Khairpur is the largest producer of these Dates almost 90 % are produced in this district only.
